I'm looking for a recommendation for bottom paint for a 16' Kingston lobster boat [Mystic Seaport's Annie A Fuller] that I'm building. The hull is strip planked with Atlantic cedar epoxied and nailed.
I want a paint that will be appropriate for a boat that sometimes may live on a trailer and other times may be sitting on a mooring for 2-3 months. Should the paint be applied on bear wood, or should a primer be used? Does anyone have experience with EPaint products, specifically EP-ZO?
Thanks, Nathan

My boat's hull is has an epoxy finish, so I used the appropriate primer for the bottom paint I chose, Jotun. All paint is part of a system.

If you are going to leave your boat in the same place for extended periods it is advisable to ask the locals what works best in that area.

I take it that the plans don't call for any epoxy and fiberglass outside the strip planked hull? I'd sure be tempted to use CPES as a base primer over bare wood, but am unsure of the exact surface design of the finished hull.

Others here will know more, but you'll want to avoid any of the soft ablative bottom paints, as they will wear off on the trailer bunks and rollers - don't ask me how I know this...
