Does anyone know someone who can analize (metalurgy) screws which seemed to deteriate before their time?

contact the mechanical engineering department of the closest university...they typically love to do that for practice/experience.

sure you can analyze the fingerprints, but do they belong to the killer? tell us the details...
(a metal assay ?? will tell you what??)

You should provide a "new" screw and one that has failed. The differences are perhaps important.

define the problem with the silicon bronze metal. did it oxidize, elongate, pit, become brittle, dissolve, is it stress failure? which parts of the screw, and all the screws or just a few or is it localized?
what is the application?
