I picked up this year's copy of WB's _Small Boats_ at the chandlery, and was really impressed by the publication. The selection of boats that they showcased was excellent, and the level and detail of coverage very good.
Many of the designs would be serious contenders for the average home builder, with sail, power and pulling boats all included. Only a few of the designs were unlikely to ever be built (the 18'8" Mackinaw Boat comes to mind), and the various reviewers came up with some interesting and honest perspectives.
Thorne-Bob says "Two thumbs up!", well worth the $6.

Oddly, that TOC lists two identical articles on page 32 and 52.

Yes, very good coverage of the Regatta -=- not a nice as what we got here, of course!
;0 )
And within a day of writing the above posting where I described the 18'8" Mackinaw Boat as "unlikely to be built", we get a thread from the UK talking about building one -=- DOH!

I could not find it at Barnes and Noble, that is the only place near here that I know of that carries WB, I suspect they will be getting it soon it the WB website says it goes on sale Dec 4, you are very lucky to already have it. Is there a Caladonia Yawl named "Jasmine" in the coverage of the Small Reach?
Thanks
Chris

Well, there are photos of some of the boats at the Regatta, including a CY with Jasmine Drouin at the helm -- same boat?

Same boat, very cool. She sure was a trooper. Any pictures of Gavin and me in his Elf? At one point on Saturday we were just sailing along and Benjamin Mendlowitz cruises past us, reaches down for his camera, looks at us again, then puts his camera back down. :( Something just wasn't right.

I got the last copy at my local bookstore but it's gone into "Santa's closet" to reappear at Christmas time. Or should I say Holiday time?? :D

Steve -- I think several, but I'm at work and can't check.
As for the photo ops, been there & done that. It is usually a fender hanging over the side, bad rigging/sail set, or the wrong lighting.

I just got mine in the mail from WB, having ordered it a few months ago. There is a nice lead article on storage and transporting small boats.

There is a nice shot of Gavin rowing his Elf, but they didn't credit him with building the boat. But that shot of your daughter Chris, that's the best shot in the article. :) I'd be contacting Benjamin Mendlewitz for a big copy of that one.
Keep your eyes peeled for this one folks, it's a keeper. Hamilton Marine had a big stack.
