Well I had to have a new project for floozie . I am building two new helmseats and getting rid of the barstool I was using this is a shot of the prototype.

and here is a shot of the one of the new seats I did the carving on the backrest to tie in with the carving on the stern seat and they will be upolstered rather than the cushion the picture

And the plan is to have them fold up and slide under the side deck out of the way.

At least thats how I see it in my head but I see lots of things in my head that don't come out as planed. Sorry about the size of the pics but I haven't figured out how to change the size this is my first attempt at posting photos from photobucket and was happy just getting them posted. hope you all have a good thanksgiving.......Phil

You shouldn't be planing your head anyway, Phil. Cool chairs. :)

Very, very nice and very crafty too! What type of wood did you use and why are you going with upholstery? I would think that the removeable cushion idea is better as it is never an issue to dry things out should they ever become wet (and on a boat,if things don't get wet, they are at least forever in a damp enviroment) and slowly rot the wood out from underneth the upholstery.
Lovely carving too, right in the spirit of your beloved Floozie.

Thanks for the pictures!

Nice to see a good idea! I like the folding sides and back and I agree with Peter... a removable cushion is a GOOD idea... indeed, it could even be an emergency flotation device.

The few Floozie pics on my site get nice comments.

As always, Phil, beautiful work. I like the idea of opening up the helm area with movable/convertible/temporary seats.
