Thanks for all the answers to my recent question. Here is a bit more information: a - deliberately blurred - picture of the plans.

As you can see all the measurements are given at regular intervals, so my idea would be to simply use a ruler and square to mark these onto the ply and then join up using a wooden batten. Hey presto! No lofting required here!

Oughtred actually says in the plans that fitting the planks on the moulds is more important, so it doesn't have to be perfect. Indeed, I should probably leave at least one mm leeway.

One of the things I've used for small (under 10 foot) boats that has worked fairly well is to get a roll of rosin paper (the type used for wood floor underlayment) and pin it down to your lofting table with lots of pushpoints or thumbtacks. Draw out your planks. Then cut them out with a sharp box cutter. The paper has enough body to allow you some trial fitting before you cut the actual plank and if you short in some areas you can just tape or paste more paper on in the appropriate area. The longer the plank the less control you have though as the paper is going to tend to want to re-roll.
