This boat - which has a commecial "5" series registration number has turned up on a mooring next to me a couple of months back.

Appears to have been built as a ferry - looks like the sort of thing that would be used for a water-based large business or navy workforce. She's in very poor nick.

I've not seen anyone on her yet.

Looks like a BIG money sink to me, nice lines but. Military workboat almost for sure, 1940's?

Thanks Tony. I had been tempted to call this post "Hey Tony" ....

She actually looks like the sort of boat that you ........ do you want me to enquire if I see the owner?

WOW - what a resource that is. I found a Dawn - built by the same folks that built Grantala, would you believe? Grantala was originally the Pollyanna I believe - according to some papers I found at the Maritime Museum.

I haven't got the Dawn history yet - just saw that Holmes also built a Dawn.

I sent him the data for Grantala

I still haven't got down there to chat to the "Mayor" (who knows what's waht around the Waters) - been caught working on getting the car project done with my son - he's planning on a road trip to Cairns in January - and yes, I've told him about the wet season.
