Looks like Oak Bluffs to me. Why would anone leave a boat on an exposed, especially stern to.

I put my own tale, much less intense as we're on the south side of the Cape, up in P&P.

Adam - what's with the new Chatham break?

Yep, People and Places.

The spot by the way looks like I imagine that new huge marina by, but outside, Oak Bluffs' cute little popeye harbor. I've not happened to sail closely enough in the last year since it was built to be sure.

Adam,

The pic came from yesterday's Globe online edition, www.boston.com. It may be found in the archives because it isn't on their web page now.

Heard from my mother in Osterville last night. She said the news down there was making Noel out to be another Hurricane Bob. Glad it wasn't. A lot of trees went down and boats ripped from moorings then.

Whoa! Pats-Colts are on. Bye.

Pretty much got the snot kicked out of us up here in Nova Scotia. Fortunately, most folk were still scared from the damage doen by Hurricane Juan four years ago, so most folks were prepared. Still, many trees uprooted, lots of fisherman's wharves, traps & equipment destroyed, damage to buildings in Halifax and surrounding sreas, etc. I've not heard of any damage at the shipyard, but I am home in Bridgewater (200 km away on the Atlantic shore) so am out of touch. Thousands of homes without power, some not to be re-conneceted until at least Tuesday.

Still don't have power at my house. Went out yesterday at 3-ish. Had to go to Coffee-O to get my email after shooting fall colors all over SE Mass today.

This is getting stale.

Slips at Oak Bluffs. Right in town and kinda handy but looks like they took a beating yesterday.

Michael, is someone checking on Howard's place while they're gone?
Last I knew they were in Rock Hall, Md. I'll watch for updates.

Steven, the lobster fisherman (Ricky) right next door is watching Howard & Donna's house, I believe. I don't know if Stonehurst caught hell in this storm - I was too busy cleaning up my own yard on Sunday to be able to get out for a "drive around". However, I have confidence that it is in good hands - it's a tight little community.

Hey guys, thanks for the concern.

We just arrived in Deltaville, VA yesterday afternoon and finally have Internet again. First thing we did was send a note to our NS contacts but we haven't really heard much (I suspect they have no power) other than from someone inland who said she didn't think that Stonehurst was hit too hard. Hopefully we'll hear more soon (anxiously waiting...).

We waited out the northerlies tucked up against the north shore of a cove in Reedville VA, but the winds didn't get much above 35 knots or so. We'll try to post a blog update (and photos) today or tomorrow for those who are following our journey.

Howard, most of the seaside damage I know of was caused by heavy seas coming from ESE to S. Unless a lot of surge came through Tanner Pass, your place should have been left relatively unscathed. The wild card is that the storm arrived on the rising tide, so it pushed the tides to pretty high levels. And, yes, I expect that your contacts are without power - all of the Lunenburg penninsula lost power on Saturday night and as of late yesterday it had not yet been restored.

Virtually no effects here on the Fundy shore - they had 80 kph winds and 5 metre swells. In Lunenburg County there was 140 kph wind and 15 metre seas.

15 metre seas???

Suddenly the high tide and surge seem like a drop in the bucket.

Thanks, Paul. I was wracking my brain for a "P&P" spot on the Cape.;)

It's the bulkhead on the inside of Oak Bluffs Harbor. The white boat in the foreground sunk later on that day.
