Why is it still 8 bucks ... yet, we have a ton of supply ... and (gasp), there were no hurricanes of which to speak.
Ridiculous! Investors are WAY overreacting ... with regard to Wall Street.

I work in the Natural Gas industry as an instrument Tech.
To an extant the above answers are partially true. However a much better answer is the simple fact of infrastructure. The gas is abundant but is not in the areas where it is needed. It has to be moved. There are several ways to do this. The most used in this country is by pipeline. None have been built in many years because of cost. 15 years ago when my company doubled our pipeline to Chicago the cost was 3 million dollars per mile, and we were using our own right of way. Just think of the problems incurred by trying to get right of way to run a 20 or 30 inch pipeline through your neighborhood to deliver gas to a city.
Another method of delivery is by tanker, either a truck or ship. No one wants a terminal in their neighborhood or tanker trucks rumbling through your town carrying large amounts of natural gas in them. Mention it and people start screaming what about the terrorists? Again your talking mucho buckos to make it work.
Because of the infrastructure problems it boils down to the old laws of supply and demand. More people wanting something that can't be easily delivered.
Keep warm using clean energy - Natural Gas.

Tom has that right!
In Fall River, Ma a group is trying to build a LNG terminal at an obsolete oil terminal on Mt. Hope Bay. The arguments by the opponents are incredible. Google "Weaver's Cove" for more info. if interested.
It is too bad, because there is already a major gas transmission pipeline just a few miles away, which would minimize the distribution issues.
