I'd welcome tips, advice, sources for rechroming deck hardware.

There is a local place here that caters to the Harley Davidson crowd and does exquisite work -- called The Chrome Shop, no less. They replated some doorknobs and heating grates for my house a few years ago (just nickel -- the full chrome treatment with copper underlayers and polishing and whatnot would've required a second mortgage). Look in the yellow pages under Plating -- that's where these guys are listed.

You can probably find someone local. My experts tell me that you do want the full copper-nickel-chrome treatment and that the thickness of the layers varies matters.

I had some lovely work done by
Whitman Company
Whitman, MA 02382

They (used to) do parts for Edson.

I've received great service from Bob at Annapolis Plating and Polishing:

I usually have him strip chrome, though, as I'm kind of into the weathered bronze look. Good luck!

I rechromed some stuff a couple of years ago. The cost exceeded the likely worth of the hardware, but as this was antique hardware there wasn't much choice. The hardware itself has to be worth it.

Years ago I had some hardware rechromed at a place right on Rt35 in Neptune NJ. Sorry I don't have their name (something like "Shore Plating" maybe(?)), I think they are still there. --I don't know how close that is for you.
