Just a loose poll on what software the cruisers on the forum are using. I am goofing with Airmail right now but might part with some dollars on commercial software.
I don't see much on a subject that more than likely overwhelms the average boater.

There's a good thread on Sai;ing Anarchy (http://www.sailinganarchy.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=61995&st=0&#entry1386272) I don't bother with internet. I use SSB (listen to Herb) and on one transat' when it was still hurricane season I used an Iridium phone to call a friend (Dan Huisjen) every thee days or so,

Thanks Gareth, Haven't called I figured you had nothing to report on the other items we discussed.

If you want to use Winlink for email and weather chart grib files you will have to use Airmail. There are no other programs that work with the Winlink system. There are lots of freeware ham programs that receive wefax. I've used JV-Com 32 for a while. It works fine. Google ham radio software. I'm assuming you hold a General class ham license or better.

Yep i am licensed but haven't messed with anything digital in over 10 years. Last packet setup was a pk-88. I bought a Kam+ at a flea market last week with intent of setting it up on the boat with an 857d.
