Stop by for just a bit while down that way last week. Took a few pictures to share here. Can't say if there's anything special, but it's better than politics. :)

Boat was built by Peter Freebody in England.

I was out in it sitting in the co-pilot's seat. Someone new slides under the wheel. I remark that slipper stern launches were made to haul gentlemen and ladies nibbling daintily on cucumber sandwiches on the Thames. And to do so without making a fuss on the water. Hence the name slipper stern.
Well, our new skipper would have none of this. I soon noted he was on his way to the speed slot in the middle of Lake Union. Soon enough he had the pedal to the metal!!! Well to the mahogany.... I should add that these vessels originally had something like a 20hp Morris engine or other bit of horrible English iron. Well, this one had a V6 of much, much more power.

We started our run across the slot. By the middle we had waves coming up on both sides of us. Ever hear the surfer term "pipeline"? Well, we had one on each side of us. At the end of the speed slot he cut the engine and said, "Boy, it was handling weird."

I'm sure it was.

Thanks pcford!

I noticed that the work boat show is coming up. Really want to go to that one. But the timing just didn't work out.

The heart of the Dragon world around Puget Sound. I think that we are counting seven Dragons on that little lake now (well, when they're all there and in the water).

'Pirate' is awesome. I wish that they had another 'R' on the lake.

I went on a long tour of Lake Union and Lake Washington in that motor boat. Very nice.

She looks a little sad there. Proud, but sad. Hopefully someone will step up to the plate - sooner rather than later.

I'm more in the market for a small skiff. One that can be rowed, or sailed very simply. Not a lot of those within reasonable range, but I'm looking.

The wife was impressed by Lew and Lindys boat, and now wants one like Rita.

Couldn't be, as there's plenty of folks here without wood boats. Heck, the most liberal one I can think of has never, ever, owned a wood boat. ;)
