I'm overhauling a 1950's cedar boat 17 feet long (6 feet wide at the widest point).
It looks like it was powered by a small engine because the engine compartment is only 13 inches wide by 18 inches deep.

I'm considering just hanging the motor from the back instead of putting it inside the previous engine compartment.

Generally, though, I'm interested in hearing from anyone who is working on (or has worked on) an old cedar boat of this size.

I'm new to this website. Do contributors of questions generally include digital photos of what they are working on?
