Yes, I noticed that!

I have tried it on a far smaller scale with mine, when racing; it's very "borderline worth while" (as it appears to be in her case, too).

HWYL it isn't Zaca Te Moana, The vessels are too different. Look at the transom on ZTM. nothing like the one in the big pic. I counted the mast hoops on the main and there are about half the number on ZTM

I agree it's Eleonara, I might have been obtuse. I left the picture of Zaca TM up there anyway. I was parked next to her in the Canaries, cool bo-at. I'd have posted my own picture but imagestation seems to have died

The picture I posted is Zaca TM, the image PI posted is from a photobucket account. I left ZTM up there because big schooners are amongst my favourite things in life. I also posted Altair which is what PI should have posted with him bein a kilt wearer and all.

I think that everyone is agreed that the original boat porn picture is Eleonara along with her strange forestaysail,.

I wonder if they can sheet it outside the shrouds.

I'm sure they can, and usually do.

There's a reference in one of EG Martin's books to Brixham trawlers sheeting their tow foresails inside the shrouds and taking the sheet to the steam winch.

It inspired me to try it, when pointing up as high as possible, in light conditions, and I reckon Eleonora's skipper is doing the same with his.

It's "marginal"...

Unlike me, he's got the crew to post a lookout under it!

He's got a bowsprit you could hold a party on - if the lookout does spot something, what does he do? - phone the skipper?
