I will likely be rebuilding most or all of the inside of my Crocker ketch, and the cockpit, and the bulwark/toe rail, and lot's of other things. I really want coffee table sized books of 1930's classic yachts, and work boats, to get ideas from but I have not yet dug many up.

Can you guys give me some book names or websites? I have done a bit of surfing around and still don't get much. Perhaps someone on here can burn a disk of their 'boat porn' of 1930's 37' ketches and similar sized boats? I am happy to pay shipping. I have some pics, but would like many more.

Thanks
James

For interiors, there's Down Below by Matthew Walker. Also, Yacht Style, by Daniel Spurr. Neither are deep books, but both are
full of nice pictures of pretty boats. Yacht Style leans a bit to the more contemporary, but there's still plenty of eye candy for the terminally starry eyed.

A Sailors Sketch Book, perhaps not a coffe table book (soft cover) but chock full of ideas and how to's.

Don't know if this is anything like what you're after (go to photos in the link below) but I was involved last year in this (GRP) build of a "classic" style motor launch - Cambria II. The owner previously owned the 23m J-Class "Cambria" and much of the interior styling was based on that yacht.

I've also grabbed some nice ideas from a book called "Nautical Style - Yacht interiors and design" by David Glenn & Simon McBride published by Scriptum Editions - UK. Not a big book but a few good pics of a range of classic styles (and a few modern ones).

cheers

If you don't already have a copy, _Classic Boat_ in the Time-Life series is worth picking up for many reasons --- interiors just one.

Thorne, I don't see this series listed. Is it a series or one book in a series? I see The Seafarers, but no Classic Boat volume there either. Can you give me more info on it?

thanks,
James

Never Mind. I found it. I just 'googled' the whole mess, and it came up!

James,
Send me a PM with your snail mail address, I've got the Sailor's Sketchbook and I'll loan it to you.
