We had added 1000 text messages to my daughters account and waited a couple of months to tell her about it. After telling her about it her first month of texting and she had 2600 text messages and a $200 bill on just her line.

So after a little ranting and raving and threatning in seceret we added unlimited texting to her phone, but still only told her she had 1000.

So this bill came in and there was an $35 charge for texting (350 messages @ 10cents per).

Here is the way it breaks down.

Debit $10 (1000 txt message plan) 13 Aug
Credit $10 (removing the 1000 message plan) 28 Aug
Debit $7.54 (adding unlimited prorated) 13 Aug
Debit $35 (text messages charges between 13 Aug and 28 Aug)

So basicly we had 1000 plan in place, upgraded to the unlimited plan. They null and voided our plan we had in place for the first half of the month and charged us for the text messages in the first half of the month.

Don't quite sound right to me.

My big thing is that we were covered by a plan and upgraded to a better plan and so they dropped our orginal plan and charged us as if that time period was not covered by any plan.

I will probably remind them when I talk on the phone with them that my contract is due up next month and I could easily switch my numbers over to the other guys.

Don't really want to do this. By the time you buy everybody a new phone and new line activations and all that garbage you have spent a ton of money, but if I have to I have to.

BTW It is not a matter of how many text messages they give us, what I'm going to put a stop to is the number of text messages the kid sends and recieves. 86 a day is way to many.

Amature :D

Addy: What were you doing with your iPhone to merit a 300-page breakdown?
Justine: Mostly just texts, which I believe was almost 30,000 . I only used about 200 of the 900 minutes [of talk.]

A few years ago Telecom/Germany offered free text messaging from a computer to a cell phone. In Germany they call it SMS , prounced (sims) just like the chip card that makes the cell phone, called a "handy", work. As in send me an SMS. I have no idea what they charge now as I find it a PITA to type a message on the phone and never do it.

I figured out the other day how to send a text message from my e-mail to my daughter's phone, but I don't txt hardly at all. I'd rather pick up the phone and call.

BTW Joe if the girl was my daughter we would be haveing a serious talk.
