My older daughter will call me Dad in ordinary usage, or 'Norm' sometimes, when she's trying to be coy or amusing.

My younger one has taken to calling me 'Pops'.

My son-in-law, so far, hasn't called me anything, that I can recall. I frankly don't care... I certainly don't expect him to call me Dad, although I wouldn't be offended if he did.... and wouldn't be offended if he called me 'Norm', either... I'm not hung up on that stuff.

I've always called my in-laws by their first names.

My 14 year old just calls me old.

Otherwise it is just Dad or when she wants to bug me she calls me Bob.

My kids and grandkids have always called me Charlie. In fact, most of the kids I know call their parents by their names, but refer to them in the third person as my Mum or my Dad.

Two boys. The 19 year old calls me Dad. The 14 year old... well, he's a lot like me, and it depends on his mood. Sometimes Dad, sometimes Old Man, as in, "What you lookin' at, Old Man?" or, "You think you can catch me, Old Man?" All very cheerful and challenging... until I actually look up. Then it changes back to Dad.

Raising boys is interesting. I've always told them that one day surely they'd be stronger, and bigger, and faster than me (the older one already is, plus he's got a black belt in tae kwan do - the younger one just wants to know who I'm calling Shirley) - but they'd never be smarter, trickier, ornerier, nor play as dirty as I. I don't know if they haven't figured out yet what a load of hot air that is, or if they're just giving the Ol' Coot a break. Generally, they're great kids. It was a lovely project to build our boat together.

Students call me Mr. Hackborn in September, but somehow that gets shortened to Hack by May.

All my girls call me Dad as a rule. The oldest sometimes calls me Daddy, which I find endearing. Her husband calls me Lew. The grandkids call me Papa, and that seems perfect.
My middle daughter works for me, and every now and then she calls me Lew, always when she's answering the phone and someone asks for me by name. Then she'll rather sheepishly back it up with....Dad again. It's all good as far as I'm concerned, but Daddy is rather warm so I like it. I find it a bit odd when parents are called by their first names by their children, but maybe I'm old fashioned that way. I called my mother Mom until the day she died. It never would have occured to me to call her by her name, so that might be where it comes from.

Both my boys call me dad except when they need a serious talking to and then it's yes sir,no sir. I never made them call me sir nor did I ever expect it. They use that when they are humbled and clearly wrong and I have come to know as a way of knowing I have their attention and that they are taking me seriously. Luckily, for the most part, it's just "dad".

By the time my mom passed, out of her mind with dementia, I was calling her a lot of things. Usually mom, sometimes Bonnie June, her given name which I always loved.

I never called Pop by other than dad.

My kids? The only one I fostered I aborted. Eternal regret. Don't want to go there, but if that soul is somewhere unknown I imagine it calls me bastardo.

It seems to me respect is important, not necessarily the words we use. Pop, mom, dad are all words of respect, but if as an adult you use their names, with respect, that's okay, too. Respect, and only when warranted. It's not, at times.

I'm Mom, pretty consistently. The boy child calls his father "Dad," but the girl child has started to call him "Pappy" for some reason.

In the fall of my Grandmother's 90th year, my uncle (the baby of the family) was taking her to the chapel at her nursing home and called her "Ma." She stopped in her tracks and scolded that he should call her "Mother" - as her other three kids did.

"But I've been calling you 'Ma' my whole life!"
"Well . . . from now on, you should call me 'Mother.'"

She was a very determined lady.

Younger Daughter calls me "Mom". Older calls me "Mom" or "Mumzy"... Sometimes by my name Aulikki.

I feel strange when my kid calls me by the first name.

Father is called "Dad" sometimes "Daddy", "Daaad" or "Iskä". Kids call a father Iskä" as an affectionate term here in Finland.
