Yup, 40 degrees at night here. Bonfires on the shore weather.

The funny thing is that if this were April or May, my wife would have the heat on or woodstove stoked. But she won't start in with that until October when we get the first frost.

I'm not one to question it!

Bad timing.

A cousin of mine, who is a resident of South Florida, arrives in a few hours. He's contemplating relocating to Massachusetts, and we're going to take him around to look at apartments today... his interview with a prosepective employer is tomorrow... and it's barely over 50 degrees F.

Interestingly, they're predicting 80 degrees F or more, on Friday.

So true... this is outdoor hard work weather. Till up the garden, lay down seaweed, reseed the grass where the parked cars have killed it, clean the garage for winter parking. A good time of year, prepping for winter.

But today, a boat ride to and walk around one of the offshore islands followed by a run over to Five Islands Lobster Co. f'suppah. They're only open on weekends now. Come home in the sunset and twilight.

Then Patriots-Chargers!:D

Man I just got back from a chilly September sail.

I had to put on a freaking sweater and my foulweather bibs.

But I'll tell you the air is sweet and clean and the light is so amazing this time of year. Wind was not as eventful as it was yesterday but a nice steady breeze.

Were entering the best sailing season on the Hudson.

Hey Joe, Airlie has a woodstove and Jamie's looking for crew....

I was on the boat all day today. Mark and I went out this morning to put in a new bilge pump switch and get the engine running again. After all systems were up and runnig we motored up to see Jamie then had a nice sail back. Then after dropping Mark off Clint and I had a nice afternoon sail. Perfect weather today, a gift.

Oh, is THAT how cold it was this morning? I would've guessed 34.

Yesterday was a cold wet day of racing. After the rain stopped we eagerly welcomed each wave that took the deck, as the seawater was at least ten degrees warmer than the wind.

I must've been sending the rum in too quickly to notice the mercury dropping at the afterparty. I hit the rack wearing shorts and a light shirt and man that was DUMB. Sleep was quite elusive, and the howl of the wind had nothing to do with it.
At dawn I hit the head at the marina, mostly just to thaw myself a bit. Oh man it was a warm toasty heaven in there. Except that it wasn't actually warm at all, it's an unheated building. It was a relatively warm toasty heaven.

I love September, I just need another week to adjust, I think.

Yesterday was probably the most perfect sailing day of the season. Cool enough for that nice fleece jacket I bought up in Whistler, but mostly clear. Light winds in the early PM but picking up steadily all after noon. Too bad there was so much dang traffic coming home (three hours+ from Westbrook).

Sister was visiting from Oregon and really really wanted to get out sailing.

Got a few good puffs later in the day.
