I am looking for good wooden boat surveyer to survey a 1953 Hinkley 41 that I have in Nashua NH. I have been told Giffy is not longer working, he did the last survey 10 years ago. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Try Jonathan Klopman in Marblehead or Paul Haley (also Marblehead?). They both worked for/with Giffy. Google National Association of Marine Surveyors for contact info.

Is your boat like this one? http://tinyurl.com/3ahell

IMHO there is no substitute for talking this matter over with a wooden boat builder you trust. They know which ones are full of blue smoke and mirrors....and many are. I have read a survey report written by "one of the best" in which the condition of the keelson was described in detail.....even though the boat had no keelson. Be very careful!

Thanks, I agree. I'm looking for working survey not public document.

It sounds like I should try to get Giffy's group to come inland to see this boat.
Thanks Everyone.

Not to dispute Mr. Full's abilities one whit, but geebus there has to be many, many more surveyors in the NE that can handle this job.

WB magazine thumped the tub for Giffy Full for years to the extent that people think he is the only guy with the skills to look at a wooden boat.

I am sure Mr. Full would be embarassed.

Paul Haley has taken over Giffy's surveying biz. I had Paul survey Torna 5 years ago - he did a great job & knows the stuff. I don't hesitate at all in recomending him.
