Thad, as been mention in the Forum before MONEL wonderful stuff but ever so expensive. More than a few alloys. Check out the CDA aka Copper Developement Assn. web site for more info. And yes it can be welded. One of my Mentors had 2 gas fired hot water heaters made of the stuff. Said he found them in the dump in 1938. I first met him in about 1971 or 2 and they were still fine. Last I visted his place, he had died, was in 1995 and I specifically asked the new, very nice, owner about those water heaters and he said he never even knew they were that old, just working fine.

As Dave said, top rate tanks! I would think that a good sheet metal fabricator could give you direction.

Thad,
Monel tanks are forever, expensive material but easy to work with. Since your in So Jersey there are a lot of sheetmetal fab shops that can do what you need, let your fingers do some walking thru the yellow pages.

For a start there's a shop right on the east bound side of Rt 37 east of Rt 9 in Toms River that specializes in marine fuel and water tanks, not sure he works in monel, but worth a trip to see his place.

If you need just the monel sheet, give Tull/Ryerson or Metal Goods a call, both in the Philly phone book.

Good luck

Hello. Since we are on the subject of fuel tanks could you have a look at my posting titled "Gas Tanks" on Design/Plans where I ask for help in design and manufacture of a fuel tank for my 16ft Poulsbo Boat. Your comments would be appreciated.

I have made tanks out of steel, aluminum, and glassed wood, It's not to bad, just make sure there is a drain at the bottom, a big fill on the top, and a vent on the top.
