In the past few days I've come across a couple of old threads... and seen posts from old friends that are no longer w/ us. Their "lights" are dark.

Meerkat
And while I didn't see any other names, we all remember the others who have gone.
Just makes me think, something I sometimes do too much of.
Hope everyone else stops and THINKS before they go slinging mud down in the Bilge again.:)
Have a nice day.

Norm's son - Lamess / Lamass? That's bad that I can't even get his name right. I just remember thinking of all that Phyllis went through...

All of them, Dave too.
I just posted the three that I SAW whose lights weren't on. Just a very graphic reminder...sigh.

Speaking of Meerkat, on the 24th it will be six months since he passed. We'll be taking our boat north in a week, and bringing him along. It's time to have his memorial. We're considering either Victoria or PT as a likely option. More people have expressed an interest in PT, and I understand why because it's a much easier venue for any interested people to get to. Victoria is a bit easier for us to do because it doesn't require a seperate trip. Either way, it's time to move along with the plans.

aaahh time and tide eh time and tide an soon enough the bell shall toll for each of us here now... tis the way of it  so buck up and move forward into the unknown future life is after all for the living
Wishin you all good care be well an stay hearty for one day such as us shall be reminiscing about our own selves in such a way we can but hope it is with good memories... so in such light one should take a care of how one treats others both here and there
be good to yourselves... and if anyone gets around to going visiting Phyllis tell her Dingo says a big gidday to smiler shes such a battler that lady! Whatever happened to Prairie Islander I wonder and Das's wonderful boat?

You guys are bringing me back to summer 1999: I was lurking here; I had just subscribed to WoodenBoat; Norm was building this beautiful boat and posting about twice per day; Margo and Dave had embarked on an unbelieveable project; my first child was due in Dec (he can sail now -- see next item); and a number of you were busy convincing me I should/could build my own boat (despite that _none_ of you knew who I was -- see lurking, above).

I didn't know the others but I still hear Meerkat's voice at various times, such as when I am looking at sailboat ads. "What do you think of this one, Dave?" (Lifts his glasses and looks closely at computer screen.) "Hmmph. Hmmph." He says dryly, unimpressed.

When transferring cell phones, to my iPhone. It transferred all my contacts including phones and email addresses. Latter I went through to weed out and update things. There was Meerkats info, I just left it in place, kinda like the idea that he might give me a call someday. :(
