What do you expect - the bloke lives in Canberra, the town most divorced from reality in the whole world?

Did you forget Washington? Even without dope.

Nah - I didn't forget it, I almost included it, but I've only been there once so don't think I could do justice to describing it - but Canberra is far worse - purpose built as a nation's capital - in the middle of nowhere - over-populated with third generation public servants who never come into contact with real people - a place where the per capita income is twice that of any other city - much worse than Washington.

Hmm.
The use of robotics and cameras and data bases is gonna become more an issue. The Brits caught their recent badguys with them. That's a good thing, but I do wonder how it's going to turn. England is the most recorded society the world has ever known. They caught those bad guys, but is there a price?
In America it's always been a point of pride, in part because of our first amendment, that you can move on. The government doesn't have a right to your personal information, though they damn well take it anyway. I'm a person, and if it goes bad here I can move west. Changing fast. That made our greatness, in incalculable ways. If the likes of Lincoln, or Twain, were closely watched they wouldn't have happened. They were gems in part because of being able to tell the central government to screw.

You obviously don't know what your government is up to if you believe that.

"You obviously don't know what your government is up to if you believe that."
Could be correct there, Bigfella. Rumors are rife of our intelligence organizations listening to EVERYTHING. I hope I'm making a bunch of them take early retirement.
Personally, as enshrined in our constitution, I just wanna be left alone to make my mistakes and good decisions. I do both. That someone might be listening while I go about it is offensive to me and fundamentally wrong. That was a big part of why we fought that war.
For some obscure reason Ish, your government is allowed to listen in to our internal communications traffic....I still can't figure that one out.

Easy enough :D Ask yourself who might allow or disallow such a thing...

As long as the government is paranoid enough to watch everyone, I am safe.
