Does anyone know of a good source for okoume within easy driving distance of Santa Rosa? (California N. Bay) I'd like to be able to select my panels myself, and also to avoid the seriously expensive shipping costs.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried calling McBeath's? I bought a 1/4 panel of Meranti at the Berkeley store yesterday, but it looked like they had some Okoume also.

Other sources are Handloggers in Richmond, and a big-ply-supplier in Oakland who's name escapes me - never been there but several people have told me about it.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I just got off the phone with Handlogger's, they carry okoume. A couple bucks more per sheet than other sources I have seen online, but it is only an hour's drive each way so it will be well worth it to save on shipping.

Pay close attention to the directions -- just across the tracks from Handloggers is one of the worst parts of Richmond...and that's saying a lot!

Also check out Whale Point Marine & Ace Hardware, about 100 yards west of Handloggers. Very nice folks, decent chandlery, best collection of slotted bronze fasteners that I've found around here.
