Hi, everyone...

Just today I have finally installed all the seats and oar locks on my boat. Last coats of Polyurethane have gone on and it is looks good if I do say so myself.:D

Woods used through out: Western Red Cedar strips, Ash, inwales,
Hackberry outwales, American Cherry Bow Deck, Front seat, White Oak and Fiddle Back Maple. Thwarts, White Oak, Transom inside Fiddle Back Maple, outside, American Black Walnut.

I just used what I had around the shop other than the WRC. Can't wait to take her out and give her a maiden Voyage.

Just need my oars finished, and we will be good to go.

It has been fun.

I want to express a heart felt THANK YOU.... to all who were kind and patient with me when I had numerous questions through out the building process.

Here are the pictures.

If you back up and go to the first album, you can see almost the whole process from beginning to today.

Tom......:) :) :) :)

Very nice...but the launch photos look a bit psychedelic. More in the water photos, please!

They were psychedelic but they weren't the launch, just the shake down. Launch will come soon as the oars are done or if I can borrow a couple of pair of oars for a test ride.

Tom, Nice job! I like the use of the many types of wood for contrast. The pictures of the lawn tractor pulling the trailer are great! It gives a good sense of scale, and really shows off the graceful lines of your Whithall.
Enjoy! - Ron

I got the plan from Glen-L for their 17' Whitehall, and then I modified it by giving it a more pleasing curve to the bow, and raked the stern back several more degrees. I moved the station forms further apart approx 3 inches extra on each one.

Total time was approx. 2 years. Actual time working on the boat. approximately 100-150 hours with help from my wife and son in law when I needed it.

Still have to finish the floor boards and the oars, those are on the agenda for today.
