This year in our area we havent had enough rain to sustain Douglas Lake. Its now down 17 feet from what it should be this time of year.
As a result the go fast boat boys are running into each other, running aground at full speed, and generally screwing up as best they can.
Yesterday the local paper printed pics of new "islands" that have appeared out there this week.'
We dont do the "go fast" thing anymore, if we did we would only do so in the main channel which is usually 100 ft deep when the lake is full.It looks like this will be a thin year for boating in our area.
Here I complain about low lake levels while those in Texas and other areas down south are so busy bailing water they dont have time to complain. What a world we have.

You mix dangerously low lake levels, idiots that drive the boat with beer in hand ,or two, speed, unknown water levels, people "assuming" that because that section was fine last year and is this year, and you have accidents.

That's entertainment.

Very interesting,
During my drive back from DC in late December 2006, I took a little sight seeing detour by Douglas Lake in Tennessee.
It was already really low then. I saw wide mud banks all the way around the lake. I don't know the exact amount of decline in the water level but it appeared to be something like 10 feet or more. I thought they had lowered the lake for dam maintenance or in anticipation of a flood.

Will , every year they lower the lake level that way.
What you saw was normal for that time of year. The mud banks do show during the off season. We were out on the lake last year during the season and the level was right on. This year is a different story tho.During the season this lake is beautiful,no mudbanks deep water, just a very nice lake. Not this year tho.Too bad.
