A co-worker of mine was sailing last weekend in a Bluejay thru some stiff breezes and lost a stay. Mast snapped. He's not a builder and asked me if I knew where another mast could be found. If none available, I may offer to have him bring me the mast and I could try to re-create it. I'm just crazy busy right now, rather see him find one. Any ideas?

Steven, your simplistic approach is very annoying. Anybody could do it that way...... ;) Thanks
I'll check out the assoc.

Here's a whole boat (a Blue Jay I contend) on Craigslist, southern Massachusetts. It may have an aluminum mast (hard to make out in the picture) but might serve if the seller would take a low offer for the package. http://southcoast.craigslist.org/boa/359483213.html
FWIW, small aluminum masts appear on craigslist or ebay from time to time, but the problem is shipping.
Another option would be to get an old Lightning mast and cut it down.

I have (or can get....I gave it away to someone who isn't using it after all) an aluminum Bluejay mast... E-mail me if your friend wants it, and I'll hunt it down.

He's not opposed to aluminum, but he's not sure whats involved in the transition. He has a 40 yo fiberglass model. Anybody know what it might take to make the conversion?

He may have to get an aluminum mast step to fit the bottom of the mast. These folks may be able to provide:

If I may piggy back on this thread.
I am beggining a BlueJay restoration in a few weeks and It would be nice to see some pictures of other wooden BlueJay's out there.
The class association site is pretty slim on member boat pictures and since it appears some of you have BlueJays, I would love to see some pictures of your boats.
Thanks
