We have to leave our beloved boatyard (the boatbuilder is retiring) and are searching for a new yard for storage. We need a place where we can work on our boat ourselves with electricity and water, and bathroom nearby. It would be lovely to be in a yard experienced with wooden boats in case we need advice or repairs done that we cannot handle ourselves. We have been in a small yard that has even allowed us to use their woodshop (we assisted the rebuild this fifty year old boat under the blessed guidance of a skilled boatbuilder). Ideally, we would like it if the yard can haul/launch the boat (34' wooden schooner--5 foot draft) and step the mast. Outside storage is fine. We will need a temporary mooring nearby where the boat can swell before we sail it up to it's mooring in mid Maine. We live inland (Western Massachusetts) and would welcome suggestions of yards from just North of Boston on up to Damariscotta Maine. We are ideally looking for a friendly, non-corporate yard, and not expensive. Any suggestions or guidance much appreciated! Many thanks!

Crocker's yard in Mancheste MA is totally competent, wooden boat oriented, within easy reach of Western MA. On top of all that, the staff and ownership is really great. Last I knew, seven years ago, owner working on boat was allowed.
