My joinery is not what I hoped it would be. I ended up with about an 1/8" gap in a joint.
the wood is Honduran Mahogany. Any recommendations as to how I can fill this joint?
I will be staining the Mahogany and finishing it bright.

Use Famowood filler.
They have a Mahogany color that is nice, is sands well and accepts stain - etc...
Very inexpensive and dries quick.
Good Luck

Alan- I usually fill set nail heads and the like in my projects with Famowood. They make a mahogany color also. Dont know if it would work or not on your project.

Bob and Neville: Sounds like just the ticket.
I am always amazed as to how quickly people respond to questions on this forum!
Thanks

A spline made of the same wood, cut with a slight taper can be tapped into the gap. Set it in wet with a glue such as poly urathane that will expand slightly and remain slightly flexible. It will also take stain. The,spline should end up standing slightly proud. It can then be planed off, scraped and sanded smooth.

Always put a thinned out coat of varnish onto the timber before filing, some fillers stain the timber around the area you are filling.

Thanks everyone for the great tips. I tried some Famowood in one area and I tried a spline in the gap I had.
Worked great
