I just started reading Iain Oughtred's "Clinker Plywood Boatbuilding Manual" and have run out of entertaining fill-ins for the *D*, *DE*, etc.. Does anyone know the code, or is this really a rudimentary attempt at creating a Scottish system of euphemism?

Something of the sort - he explains at the start of the book. Different sections of the book are only relevant to particular styles of hull.

Or were you making a funny, and I'm being too dense?
