Hi All and Merry Christmas,
While fairing the floor on the dory I'm building, I had a knot (which I had previously thought secure) pop out while planing. It's in a bad spot-right on the chine just forward of the transom knee. I realize now I should have repositioned the floorboard during assembly, but hey, it's my first boat ;) Anyway, I glued the knot back in with resorcinal and am now wondering if I did the right thing. Should I have repaired it with epoxy instead?
Thanks in advance

If the knot wasn't too oily from pitch and it fit tight enough, you should be OK. Resorcinol needs a very tight fit.

The best practice is to drill out loose knots back to fresh wood with a hole cutter or fly cutter, then to fashion a matching-grain plug to epoxy in.

A good excuse for every properly-equipped boat shop to have a lathe.
