I will be gone for about a week. I am sailing my old Finn for the last time today in the Gulf Coast Champs, then leaving at about 4am for Rochester to pick up my new IC. My plan as of right now is to head up to Burlington for the afternoon on Monday and spend Monday and Tuesday night there before heading home and arriving on Thursday.

I want to try and sail the IC while I am up there, so if they'll let me I will launch her on Tuesday at the LCCSC and give her a go. If anyone happens to be driving by and sees an old fat guy doing backflips off of an interesting looking boat then please blow the horn, give a shout, or even feel free to call Search and Rescue. The commentary may be unsuitable for those of you with tender ears, so I apologise in advance.

Pretty excited about this, but still pretty sad about getting out of Finns if even for a short while. BUT, we have had quite a bit of news on the Dragon front lately that I haven't shared around here. News of a pretty old Borresen being beautifully restored in northern California, and two new folks looking for boats (both want wood) have me jumping around quite a bit. And that reminds me, I need to begin another thread about something.....

Bye. See you next week.

Mick-

I hope you have better luck than my son on his road trip. He left Massachusetts for North Carolina and his left rear brake line popped a hole at midnight. Five college kids sleeping in the car until AAA towed to a repair station this morning. They're on the road again now.

Knock wood.

I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet about Vermont. I've been swamped.

Gimme a call on my cell 802-318-5280 and we will meet up.

the boat was well worth the trip. I have a very cool Canoe in my back yard right now.

According to the guy who fixed the trailer, I had pretty much beaten it to death by bob-tailing it the 1250 miles at 70 mph. One hub and outer bearing gone, the seal leaking on the other side. Because God watches after fools and sailors the FIRST business that I came to after noticing the problem was a boat and RV center in Churchville, New York. Very nice folks who took care of me.

Anyway, the delay to get the trailer fixed plus a traffic snafu in Syracuse meant that I would not have made it to Burlington the day I had planned so I wheeled her to the right onto I-81 and headed south. After the trailer thingee the trip was uneventful.

I know one thing: if I ever lose my job I might have a future in driving across country. I drove the first day from home to Macedonia, Ohio. The second day was the day the trailer broke down and I only made it to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The third night I spent in my bed at home. So, there you go. Just one long, boring drive around the country.

One other comment? The highway director in Kentucky should be strung up by his gronicles. That is one messed up place.
