I hadn't brought anything with me to read on the train this morning, so I grabbed a newsletter thingy that's mostly adverts, etc. Three separate ads for scooters listed "wireless remote starter" among the various features of the bike.

Remote start?!!!!? on a scooter? WTF?

I think they're completely silly and wasteful on cars, but I understand that there's an argument to be made for giving the climate control system some time to get ahead of the game.

What could possibly be the benefit of remote start on a scooter?

ask the guy who has a remote control for his lap top

The radio I put in the Honda had a remote... I asked the guy why....His answer "So you don't have to reach all the way over to the radio." I gave him a look. The remote, perched on the dashboard or in the little cubby hole, is farther away than the radio....I threw it out right there in the show room...

I used to think the same thing, but I use the remote for the jeep radio a LOT when working on the boat.

(on the hard)

We drive my wife nuts with the steering wheel controls for the radio. She gets her station on and we change it, or mute it, or bump up the volume. Gets her every time, just like the cat will chase the flashlight spot on the floor.

Simple pleasures for simple folk.

Remote start for a scooter? I'd use it for fast getaways after bank robberies.
