My Aunt Gwynn lives four houses down...now alone since Uncle Russ died last February. She is 84. About 20 years ago she did me the favor of hand copying Ruskins "When we build, let us think that we build forever..." I asked her to do this for me because she had pretty handwriting. Ruskin's commentary now hangs in it's own frame. Last evening, I walked over and got a phone number from her (for one of her grandsons). She copyed it down on pretty paper with his name next to it...and looking at it this morning I am struck by the obvious tremmor in her hand...

Mate, I won't mind one little bit if I've got a bit of a tremor and can still write down phone numbers at 84

If I have to write something down that other people will read,I dont.I ask my wife to write it down for me.My handwriting is so bad that I hate for other people to see it.
I'm left handed and as most lefties can tell you, its difficult. As your writing, your covering up what you just wrote with your hand ,and if its in ink , your hand gets stained and smears result.
In the 1st grade I can remember my teacher attempting to force me to write right handed. She would come to my desk, take my pencil and put it in my RIGHT hand, then when I'd return it to my LEFT hand She'd get upset. My parents finally had to go to school and tell them to leave me alone.
I'm not totally left handed tho, fine work I do left handed, work requiring strength I seem to do right handed.
But writing has always been a problem for me,so I tend to shy away from it when possible. My wife's handwriting is great so she does most of it around here.
I also had even more problems with my handwriting after my stroke. It seems to have improved some now but I doubt it'll ever be as it used to be.
Imagine how that great older lady mentioned above feels, knowing that once she was sought out for her handwriting skills , but now cant control her own hand.Life.
