Any number of American Congress Creatures are decrying the planned 2 month vacation of the Iraqi Parliament in July and August. The general sense seems to be that so much work needs to be done in Iraq that their Parliament needs to keep their noses to the grindstone and git 'er done.

Codswallop. What about the pressing issues here in America? The first 100 hours, the first 100 days have all passed. What has Congress done? What is Congress doing? Have they announced curtailing their vacations?

However, realistically I think there is a lot more the Iraqi Congress might actually do during that time to improve the situation in their country than our Congress would be likely to do to improve things here.

Hell if they Iraqi gov. has learned anything.. they are following our American tradition.. 92 or 93 days out of the year working in DC.. For a min of 165,000/yr.
Yup, they have learned.

Getting back to their home districts and mending fences might actually be the best use of their time.

The hottest selling item in Iraq right now is the 8 ton pre-cast blast wall, fences ain't in it.

I heard they're selling so fast the manufacturers are delivering them before the concrete has fully cured. But back to the original issue. A two month vaction isn't much good without a pay raise and an expense account to cover the costs. Sometimes I wonder if the Iraqis really understand what democracy is all about.

Those are excellent questions.... feel free to seek out the answers for yourself.

This kinda reminds me of the time Jamie challenged me to name anything accomplished by the Democrats in the 40 years they controlled Congress. (Needless to say, I did not have much difficulty.)

On the issue of the Iraqi Parliament, I think we're in agreement. I don't care what they do.

We don't own Iraq. We shouldn't spend so much time and energy caring about their government. It's very disturbing that the most important issue in the U.S.A. is some other country.

I wonder how many will return from vacation (in other countries)? Perhaps our troops should be pulled out for two months. God knows those poor guys need a damn vacation.

Depends on how much Haliburton reconstruction money they've been able to palm. Some may have to come back for a second helping. But the troops have to stay. Somebody's gotta be there to draw fire away from the civil servants.

There can't possible be any "brush" left on the Lazy GW spread to be cleared.

Maybe the "brush" the shrubbery likes to clear down in Crawford is good ol' C. sativa. :D

Aren't these guys supposed to be caring just a bit more the the US?

It's funny. These sh*tbirds back home here are no longer talking time lines but are now wondering if they can come up with a couple of benchmarks.
It'll be hilarious if these guys here are sweating out some foolish benchmarks for iraqui progress in self determination while them in charge in Iraq are sitting by the pool or maybe like most of the other people of their demographics will screw.

Think of it this way - if they go on 2 months vacation the oil bill can't possibly be signed and agreed upon, so by the time they come back and start fighting about the oil bill the surge will have patently failed, one of the benchmarks being to get the oil ripoff bill signed.

I think it's a brilliant plan!
