View Full Version : Formula or Recipe for Caulking Compound
My boyfriend has a 1963 all teak Cheoy Lee Lion and we are currently in Horta, The Azores. He needs to re do some cotton and he would like to be able to mix the seam compound himself. So do any of you guys or gals have something for us?

I believe it's red lead powder and linseed oil below the waterline, white lead paste and linseed above. Mix to a regular "putty" consistency. About 1 - 10 for the red lead and 1 - 1 for the white, they say. I just buy it in a can, ready made. But I'm lazy. Try these folks for the lead if you can't find it locally.

What kind of stuff do you have at hand? Roofing tar or roof patch? Portland cement or the like? Is this a short term, medium term or long term fix?
