Happy Easter everyone. My minister today was asked by the congregation the origins of the name "Easter". We could understand something like "Reserection Sunday", but why Easter. He really didn't know. Anybody?

Happy easter all. The room mate and I will probably sacrifice a chocolate bunny later today. We do it every year and make quite the ceremony of it. We lay him out on the cutting board and start with the ears.:D

Eeeeewwwww! I mean, it just sounds so surgical.

Say, what happed to the mixer thread? It seems to have vanished. That was you, right?

The mixer thread took a sudden leap to the over 18 crowd. In the right context it could have been rather humorous, but this place has no age restrictions. It didn't seem appropriate.

Yes, happy Easter to all.

Katharine, thank you for your concern for age-appropriate postings. My daughter used to read the Forum, but stopped because the language and subject matter offended her when she was twelve.

Sleeting! When I woke up it was to glorious sunshine and about 55 degrees.

Sitting here in my office, alone again. Talked to the wife and two of the three kids. Mom and dad and sis are all together having dinner. Left messages. A little bit sad, but not as bad as last night. Another 14 years and I can put this place behind me.

God's blessings to everyone on this Easter Sunday. I think that I will go out and smell the clean, fresh air for awhile.

Happy Easter everyone. My minister today was asked by the congregation the origins of the name "Easter". We could understand something like "Reserection Sunday", but why Easter. He really didn't know. Anybody? Comes from the Roman holiday "Estros" for fertility. I'm surprised your minister didn't know this. Just like Christmas mirroring the winter solstice, Easter mirrors the vernal equinox and the celebration of fertility. It was an easy way to get the heathens to join.

Happy Easter to all.

The minister equated resurrection with insurrection in his remarks today....

I think I'm in need of a sugar detox....
