I refuse watching comic book violence anymore. Tarentino and Rodriqeuz are gifted men at the camera and the writing, but god, what a waste to pump that gift, that way, into the mass psyche. I've only seen the trailer, but that was enough.

Wow. I can not stand Quentin Tarantino movies. I saw the trailer for 'Grindhouse' when I went to see 'the 300'. What can I say? Not my cup of tea.

Grindhouse is much better than 300

The only part that I thought was silly was the 'monsters' (why did they feel the need? Oh yeah, it was a cartoon) and the 'splatters' during the credits. The movie itself I thought was fine.
Sorry for the thread drift.

Best movie I have seen in a while is the new James bond
Kenny....bloody good Australian movie.
Did I mention funny?

Thanks Lee, I think I'll check it out if it hits town when I'm home.
Kill Bill is gratuitous,,GrindHouse has gratuitous shots of cleavage and backsides. 300 is over the top gratuitous torso stabbing.
You'll leave the theater with a smile.

Putting Uma and Daryl in a trailer sword fight was not gratuitous.
It was genius.

Don't take me wrong. I admire some films that have violence. I think of "Seven Samurai," which has much more visceral violence than what happens today. I like, well sorta like, "Reservoir Dogs" and think Tarentino is never likely to make a better film than "Pulp Fiction."
There's a personal hook in all those films. You understand why the violence is happening, admire some characters, despise others. Morality, in other words.
What seems to pass for entertainment today is often bereft of believable character and morality. Cartoons.
Maybe making it a joke is the hip these days, but I don't see it as a good thing.
Jack, I don't take you wrong. Pulp Fiction has more gratuitous violence than GrindHouse. But you've seen the trailer and that's enough.

If you're tired of all the killing and violence and just would like to see an honest story about another culture melding into American
society see "Namesake".http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20014255,00.html
A non violent spy thriller see "The lives of others"

a refreshing change of pace from the usual Hollywood crap.:(

Thanks, JD. I'd given up, for the most part, looking for good film, but am always open to giving it another shot. I do, regrettably, watch far too much TV drama. Some of that is rather good, but the advertisements are killers. LOL.
Lee,
Unless I get a sense a film is going to have merit, I can't stomach a "Grindhouse." Knowing Tarentino and Rodriguez a bit I may be put off when the trailer shows a scantily clad maiden making love to a big machine gun, and it going off killing everyone in sight. Not my cuppa anymore.
