For those who may be interested:
I recently finished Joel Whites Shearwater and have added up all the material receipts.
Her total cost (excluding running around gas)came in just under $2000 Canadian, this includes her sail at $500. I managed to purchase most of her materials wholesale except some bronze fittings. The largest expences were in this order: sail, akume plywood, epoxy (buy this in 1 gal min.)hardware, varnish/paint, fastenings, rope. I am probably out by about 10% and the cost does not include her trailer(mig welder for sons birthday $750, steel $250, sons pride...priceless) and custome sunbrella cover $300.
