and you don't have access to a crane. Something I'm going to be doing soon:

then click on 'Question of the Week'.

Thats what I do with my 18' Whaler but I block the front first.

I sometimes get the willies when jacking up the stern as I'm stacking 6x6 timbers with a jack on top. But no crashes so far.

Then I roll on the bottom paint with a 6' handled roller.

Lower it down and hit the 2 spots where I blocked.

Good to go.

block the transom and jack under the keel. bridge under the keel using a 4x6 placed crosswise. If you can get a long enough beam to clear the fenders you can just pull the trailer straight out, otherwise you may have to move your front purchase several times to clear trailer crossmembers as the trailer comes out.

Use adequate cribbing or stands, remember that the neatness of cribbing directly relates to it's tendancy to stay together.

Be carefull but this is relatively straight forward.

Yes it is... it's pretty much an extended advertisement for Aurora products!

Of course you can mount a winch onto the wall of a garage and rig tackles. Hoist boat, move trailer out from underneath. You may well own a gantry, just doesn't look like it.

Tana Mari was different...but......when Neper needed bottom paint (31 Searunner tri)......I rolled out a half dozen oil drums and 6 cartons of Salems.....and had a dozen guys lift her up and set her on the drums...cleaned and painted in a couple of days....6 more cartons (at 1.10 per carton) and I was back in the water....:D

I never lift my boats off the trailer, I lift the trailer itself by simply towing it up two steel car repair drive-on ramps. That gives (me) good enough clearance to work under the boat.

To clean and paint under the side support pads, the supports on either sides are lowered a bit so the boat can be heeled.

To paint under the keel rollers, one may be able to pull the boat lengthwise a bit on the trailer, or jack the keel up two inches, or .... you can't have everything.
