Thanks Rick,
Yeah she should be a handy all rounder, my kids seem more interested in the boat now they can see the size and shape better. ;)
Middle son is already picking spots for rod holders ! in a yacht? :)

Does anyone know where 'Banjo's Backyard' went?
Would like to see pictures on his Sweet Pea that seem to be referenced all over the web, but site no longer exists.

Hello folks,

Yep it's me, the REAL Banjo.
My apologies for dropping off the face of the planet there for a while. Life, health and other general issues all conspired against me to keep away.

Anyways, I'm back online as well. Have still not completed the dammed boat but it has progressed considerably since the last updates were posted on the old defunct web site I had on "BogPond". I have changed to ADSL (still with BigPond) and set up a blog they provide but I don't like it much.
You can see it here http://www.banjos.bigblog.com.au but it will not go any further.

The new blog I have started at http://banjosbackyard.blogspot.com is much more user friendly and cutomisable, with heaps of space available, so this will be the one I will continue working with.
I am on holidays next week so will get the new blog up to speed and updated to where I'm at on the boat, will also take some more pics of the latest work done and post them next week as well.

It's good to be back, I feel like I have come home from an extended stay away..

Welcome back, glad to see the project is still progressing...and being documented.

Welcome home! Life get's tricky in places.. We all know that. It's why a person needs to build a boat to help make us sane. Okay, that doesn't always work out either. Oh well, just keep on building.

It's nice that the kids are showing interest. I took my grandson to his first Wooden boat show recently and it was the best day I have had all year. Make room for a little fishing gear. Pretend your taking cod off the Grand Banks.

Thanks Thorne & Chris, it is nice to be back.

Yes life can throw you some nasty curve balls at times, but I am one of the lucky ones.
After a bit of a scare I am clear and declared fit for duty for as long as it takes to get the boat finished and enjoy it on the water with the family.
I am also lucky enough to have a few new ship mates that joined the family in the last year or two.. so it's all good and now I am keen to get it done when time permits.

I just noticed the date stamp on this thread! Wow... I gotta get this thing done before I'm too old to throw a leg over the gunnel's.. LOL

I am a big fan of Welsford designs and have liked the Sweet pea ever since I discovered John's boats. I have no personal experience with water ballast. Are the tanks integral to the hull construction or are they separate units? I appreciate the desire for real lowdown ballast. I hope your system works out.

He's not the only designer out there, but his boats stable characteristics and the build method make them a good choice.
The tanks are built in compartments under the quarter berth bunks. Each tank has a screw out clear plastic inspection port on the top panel (bunk base) better make sure there are no leaks or we could end up with soggy bedding :)
