OK, anyone have a special meal with their sweetie? I made SWMBO a bit of a South Asian feast: mushroom & cabbage Jalfrezi curry with coconut milk; spinach & tomato Balti curry; cucumber, cilantro, & lime raita; basmati rice; and chapatis. Special hazelnut chocolates for dessert. Lots left over for lunches, too! :D

Any other good meals out there last night?

You, my dear friend, have the honour of being with such a wonderful sheila! That should be enough....;)

...but my sweetie isn't like that at all. She actually hates Valentine's day and anything else commercial like that. I can't make too big a deal of it, and she certainly doesn't expect much. Last year I didn't do anything, IIRC, and neither did she.

But this year I've been stooopid busy - house-sitting out of town, couple rehearsals a week with the band, boat-building - and haven't been able to spend much time with her, so we were planning to have dinner together for the first time in days. Figured I'd cook something nice, she always likes that.

So, more of just a nice meal than a Valentine thing, but it fit the bill. ;)

I made my guys pork chops, mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans for dinner with a nice bottle of wine. I gave him a pewter guardian bell for his bike, and a plaque of mushy sayings along with a mushy card. I got a funny card and a music CD.

Despite the fact that my dinner companion barks and wags his tail, it was a good Valentine's day. :D

Ain't nothin' wrong with the KD, Joe! (Do you guys even call it that? Some distant memory tells me it's not known as Kraft Dinner in the Excited States...)

Throw a can of corned beef in there and it's fine-a-licious. Some would say peas and tuna, but they're heretics.

And BTW, best wishes for a more... fine-a-licious is as good a word as any... Feb. 14th next year. I've been where you are and it's no fun, but it gets better. ;)

Joe......you are young and inexperienced.....to survive in this world you must learn to shop and prepare gourmet meals....drives the wimmin's crazy....keeps you out of the local greasy spoons.....you dunno have to chase wimmins, they chase you....and when you can prepare meals to die for when out sailing.....you just gained 10 points on the desirability scale.......:D
