Like we really need this:( . It touched down right down the road from me in Westwego about 3am this morning. They closed the expressway but I'm going to see how close I can get. Hit a populated area too, Damn:mad:

Not likely. I didn't see the news yet as to dead/ injured, but I just came back from there. It hit a residential neighborhood then crossed a major road(Westbank Expressway) and slammed into a good size hotel and just leveled the 2nd floor of it. It is highly likely that this hotel was housing relief workers as it was not in an area that was damaged bad from Katrina.
All the major News crews are set up in the middle of the highway, a real 3 ring circus:( . I took some pics and will try to upload here in a few minutes.

looking into the back yards, In this area it appears that the tornado came down between the rows of houses and through the back yards

apparently the Seabrook Marina got hit hard, and there were about 40 boats in there being restored from the last time. You know, I guess that there comes a time when you have to just shrug your shoulders and give up.

There were two different stories on yahoo last weekend about the fact that more people are leaving New Orleans than are moving home. This is not going to make it easier.

I will be over there for a week in March sailing Finns. I have e-mailed friends today to find out if everything is o.k. but I think they are out clearing up. Gob bless them.

I'm glad to hear you're OK, Jack.

I just got home from working in the uptown area, which was also hard hit. I didn't see any damage where I was, but I heard tales from some who narrowly missed it.

Krikee, New Orleans could sure use a break. And with all that clean living!

(and let me know when Mick comes to town, you too, Mick. It'd be great to break bread!)

Where is the seabrook marina? I might get a chance to go check it out tomorrow

There's a Seabrook Harbor at 5801 France Road, on the west side of the Industrial Canal. I think it's a boatyard/storage kind of place.

Saturday and Sunday, the 17th and 18th, and then I will be back at the SYC from the 21st-24th. I am staying at the venerable old Landmark in Metarie. Let me know when you guys want to get together. My wife may come over one night so that we can head downtown, but the rest of the time I am free (as far as I know).
