This link is to a Monk-designed 36 for sale in Tacoma. I have two kids to send to college, so I'm not really looking for a boat, but in a small digital picture this looks like a reasonable project: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/276621830.html

What do you all think?

EDIT: A project boat for someone else...

Good retirement cruiser

Ah, go ahead Rick, its all a myth about old wooden boats taking a lot of time and money to maintain.
I don't know that particular boat or even recognize it. The high boat shed looks like it is on the Thea Foss waterway near the 11th street bridge but that's just a guess. Also, its hard to tell with photos but that looks longer than 36 feet.
I see that you were looking at Craigslist - did you look at the Weekender ad? If I didn't already have 2 boats, I would be real tempted to look at boat.
Good seeing you and Melinda yesterday on Lew's boat.

I found the other boat when looking at that Weekender. It's just a little small for the four of us, but still tempting. Melinda prefers boats that don't tip over on purpose, although I've been sailing since I was in Boy Scouts.

EDIT: The Weekender seems to be gone now...

Not surprised about the Weekender being gone already - that was a good deal if it was decently constructed and responsibly taken care of.

It seems so innocent at the start. Engine access seems hard, which seems like a small one, but could be a deal killer for me.

And I bet it could be had for a lot less than $13.5.

I second what the gentleman from Irmo said.

...the family really needs to dump this thing-have a couple of Martinis and come on down and take a look.

:D The hard sell.

It has nice lines. It must be a good buy...

:D The hard sell.

Heh. I'll have to see if I left my martini goggles out in the canoe...

Please be sober while checking that boat out....
