Here are a few pictures from work completed over the Memorial Day weekend. We completed the Galley, with tile counter tops and backsplash, installed the custom painted sink and faucets, and installed the new ceiling in the main salon and also in the outside helm station. The overall picture of the boat is taken from the "Yes,Dear" dinghy during the 7am mist while I was taking the Poodles to shore. The Great Dane did not go with us this weekend (thankfully). We will shortly be installing carpet and furniture in the next 2 weeks. http://www.gngems.com/Catalina27/May27bb.jpg http://www.gngems.com/Catalina27/May27r.jpg http://www.gngems.com/Catalina27/May27x.jpg

Love the galley sink! There has to be a story there.

Sink Story. Of course. In short it is called "Wife with Credit Card". She went crafts shopping a couple of states away with her sisters, and saw this Ceramics artist and commissioned him to paint the sink with Sea Turtles. When my wife was 7 years old, she and her mom were digging clams and whatever else on the South Carolina coast, and Bry found what she thought was a wheel buried in the sand. She and her mom got on either side of it and pulled for all their might. As the 'Wheel' began to lift, suddenly it took off swimming. It turned out to be a Sea Turtle which had buried itself in the sand. Bry lost her mom in a car accident when Bry was only 16, so everything has a story to it. I just love that about her. She is a fabulously talented artist herself. I will post pictures later of the underwater scene she painted as a mural on the boats' forward bathroom walls. She has been a real worker in this restoration project. All the interior wood (sanding, staining, and varnishing) has been her work. Life is great when you have a cooperative partner.
