It wasn't getting any longer. I'd been keeping track. Two fists worth off my chin and no net growth for months. And I was tired of catching so much food in the stray bits. And she's been curious how I look underneath the excess.

I'll let my chin grow a little bit longer again though, maybe to an inch and a half or two inches, while keeping the sides fairly well trimmed. This is how a 1/2 inch blade guard done evenly all over leaves me.

Every couple of years, I shave it all off to make sure my chin's still there. Then slowly, starting with a moustache, then a goatee, entropy claims my face again.

Mine hasn't been off in so many years I'm afraid to see what's under it!

I take mine completely off every 3 to 4 years, then scream and start growing it again. This time I only took it down to a goatee.. the bride likes it, said I look "cute" and younger... so I'm leaving it that way.... :D

Problem is, I've got competing drives. I really like not shaving. And I really like shaving with the straight razor.

From my perspective, the goatee's been the best compromise ... but it reminds the bride of an old boyfriend. Not good.

My sixteen-year-old daughter has never seen my face. She says I mustn't shave my beard until she has moved away from home because whatever is underneath might scare her...

Let alone beard, I have this cookie duster for many years, I forgot how do I looked under it...
I am afraid to remove it, my wife will probably leave me if I did..
