View Full Version : Wanted Wooden WoodPussys to restore

We'd like to put wooden WoodPussys into the hands of sailors who will restore them as part of our "Renaissance of the WoodPussy for the 21st Century". There are several prospective restorers for the woodies offered for restoration. These boats are not valuable antiques, but do present opportunities for hard working catboat lovers to restore, enjoy them and have others appreciate them before they become firewood.
There are only about 75 Philip L. Rhodes designed WoodPussys left in the world (wood & glass). We know of only two planked "Woodies" currently in sailing condition and three cold-molded ones.
If you have a wooden WoodPussy in need of T.L.C. or know of one, please donate it or offer it for sale at a reasonable price based on it's condition (sail, spars, parts, trailer etc) for restoration as part of the "Renaissance" effort. We'll obtain assurances from prospective owners these boats will be restored, Potential buyers, donators, or sellers of wood or fiberglass woodPussys, please contact us so we can move our "Renaissance" effort forward in high gear santone@optonline.net tel # 631-368-6143.

When we were kids, a WoodPussy was a "quick little wooden catboat", or a woodsman's term for a "skunk". Look what the younger generation has done to a perfectly good word. Shame on them.

Yes, Very much so. We visited the Crystal Lake Yacht CluB in 2005, and they came East to compete on Long Island in in NJ in 2006. The National Regatta will be held at the Crystal Lake Yacht Club in Franklin MI in August. We expect several WoodPussys from the East to travel to Michhigan for this regatta. I plan to be there for the fun.

'm one of several USWPCA members assisting Brian Weeks to get the word out about the new Fiberglass WoodPussys . ( He's up to his elbows in fiberglass resin today building a WoodPussy going to one of the fleets in NJ). Visit the newly constructed USWPCA website at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/uswpca/
