Its the fact that its a huge industry here in the South, and its hard to find good, inexpensive, warm, work and outdoors clothing that ain't camo patterned.

That would be kind of annoying.

What about standard Carhart overalls? That's what I usually use for outdoor work. For camping and suchlike I go a different route because I try to avoid cotton, at least in the cooler months, which usually means going to real outdoor equipment supply stores, often via mail order...

Campmor (and REI ( http://www.rei.com ) -- my other favorite) are great for full-on camping gear, but neither does very well when it comes to outdoor work clothing...

I do wear Carhart, but there is some pretty nice and affordable stuff out there that seems to be available locally only in camo patterns.

I agree Paul...the hunting industry is a modern form of market hunting

I dont wanna make anyone mad here but here in East Tenn, we always laugh at all the families that come in on VACATION with each and every member of the family wearing camo.Theres nothing wrong with camo, it just looks odd to us that entire families will show up dressed like their all going hunting.

Nah, winter will be over here in another few weeks.:D :D :DOh good, then maybe you'll be done complaining that it was in the 40's or some such ungodly cold temp.:D

Ah yes, I've run into that situation at times. It does seem like there is often this divide between camping gear and hunting gear, and little understanding on either side of that divide that the gear used by the other side might have some virtues!

Paul,

Your absolutely right. Some of the best hunting gear is only available in camouflage. It's one of my favorite rants too. You've already received some good advice, although I would add that you should check out mountain climbing stores too.

Or seeing somebody wearing hunter's orange out of huntin' season...

When we had the sport shop, we used to joke that we could sell anything if it had camo on it...and it was true. I think I've now seen camo tolite paper somewhere...I specifically suggested we do that but it was too silly for anyone to take me seriously

Duluth trading company and Filson's both have nice noncamo stuff, although Filson is a bit spendy. Cheaper than Dirt often has good specials on foreign surplus at remarkable prices.
