well i will start on the keel to day. my question is do the keelbolts go all the way through the lead on the bottom. so if i wonted to replace the keelbolts that way i could just on bolt them. thanks john

"Just unbolt them"? A bit optimistic perhaps... Your bolts probably go "most" of the way through the lead. But they are probably set into "pockets" towards the bottom. Find those, chip out whatever is filling 'em up and take a look at what you've got there. Probably nuts holding the lower end of the bolts in place. Then back to your bilge and clear away anything in way of the heads. From there it's just gonna be a matter of human ingenuity and brute force to try and work 'em up out of there. Got a plan for for "catching" that several ton hunk of lead once you do get it loose?

So your survey said the frames and keel gotta go, eh? If so, starting with keel is the way start. Then the frames, a pair at time, so she won't "lose her shape". Sounds like quite a project. How's the rest of the boat?

John, take a look at my website, and Concordia's also. That will help give you the lay of the land. G'luck as Ian would say.
