Ran across David Gerr's Crackerjack as referenced in the A Cruise Aboard Crackerjack or an Imaginary Cruise in a Dream Boat chapter of "The Nature of Boats". Looks like quite an interesting design.

Does anybody know if the plans are available? I'm not finding them looking around Mr. Gerr's site. A previous email to him (on another topic) is so far unanswered, so before adding to his queue, I thought I would ask here.

It looks like a conceptual drawing that never went farther than what you see in the book.

I was afraid of that... anybody familiar with a similar design? I find the "aft cabin" arrangement especially interesting.

Maybe something of Atkins?

Got an email from Mr. Gerr... Crackerjack never went beyond a preliminary design.

Pity... I think it looks like a good one.

If anybody else liked this look (and from the resounding lack of traffic, maybe I was the only one), I wanted to point out that Ted Brewer's Deer Isle 28 (http://www.tedbrewer.com/power/deerisle28.htm) has an option for a similar aft cabin/berth.

Might be worth a look.

Jeez, I'd always assumed that the "Crackerjack" was just an essay on the virtues of the aft-cabin or "family cruiser" version of the ubiquitous Albin 27.

I see these listed in the high $20k to low $30k range, which seems like a HECK of a bargain.

Speaking of the Albin 27, this guy has an interesting site that details his trip through the Rideau, Trent Severn, Great Lakes and Erie waters, down the Hudson and back to his home in Maine. http://plsntcov.8m.com/
