Does anyone have a detail for penetrating a 1" thick plywood coach roof with a 3" stainless sheetmetal flue for a diesel heater? I'm looking for any ideas to keep it from leaking on my head.

Yes, you need a deck iron. This is a cast fitting that goes onto the cabin top and through which the stove flue runs. You connect flue pipe below and above it. It is solid. There is a circular depression around where the flue runs topside. You fill that with water. The water keeps the stove iron cool so it doesn't convect heat to the surrounding wood and char the cabin top. You should be able to find one in any good stove catalog. Check out Toplicht or Hamilton Marine.
