Discovery is coming in for a landing at Kennedy Space Center. For those with a high speed connection, you can launch NASA webTV from here:

Amazing. It was supposed to be visible passing overhead here at 5:22... and it landed at Kennedy at 5:32. That's about 1200 miles in 10 minutes...120 miles a minute...2 miles per second (average).

7200 mph average.

Yeah. On the TV they occassionally showed a tracking screen that showed Discovery's path across Mexico, Texas and then the Gulf Coast. At that scale, on small webTV display, you could see the dot representing Discovery moving across the screen.

I like watching that NASA feed too. In addition to the speed I like watching the altimeter readings. I think its gliding ability is overrated! That thing comes down like a rock!!
